The Seven Sisters refers to a collection of seven leading law firms with offices in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. According to Legal Week, these firms have "fundamentally dominated" the Canadian legal market for the last several decades.
While those firms continue to be well-represented in the Chambers Global rankings, several other firms that were never traditionally part of that old network can now claim membership in the upper tier, such as Miller Thomson, Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Bennett Jones, and Dentons Canada LLP.

History
The term can be traced back to at least 2001, when it may have been coined by Sandra Rubin to describe the top seven Canadian law firms in Toronto by mergers and acquisitions deal volume. These seven firms are still referred to as the Seven Sisters, regardless of how their deal volume presently ranks.
